The Revenue Hiding in Your Dead List (Do the Math)

The math of a dead list — a transparent model, not a scary stat we made up. Every assumption is labeled. Plug in your own numbers and the answer is yours.

Every business is sitting on one: a list of leads that went cold and customers who stopped buying. You already paid to acquire them — ads, time, effort. Then they went quiet, and the list just... sits there.

Here's what it's quietly worth.

The math

Plug in your numbers. We'll use a deliberately mid-range local-service example:

InputExampleYours
Contacts in your database (old leads + past customers)3,000___
Reactivation rate (how many you wake up)5%___
Average value of one job or sale$2,500___

3,000 × 5% × $2,500 = $375,000 in booked revenue — from a list you already own.

The 5% is an assumption, not a promise. Commonly cited reactivation rates run roughly 3–8% for a typical list — higher for a clean one with a well-targeted campaign. Swap in your real numbers; that's the whole point.

Why a dead list beats a cold ad

Reactivation isn't just cheaper than acquisition — it's a different category of cheaper. These people already know you. You're not buying attention, you're restarting a conversation. Win-back consistently costs a fraction of net-new acquisition and converts faster, because the trust is already there.

The catch: channel and compliance

A dead list only wakes up if your message actually gets read — so you lead with the channel that fits the audience:

  • SMS — the default for US local service businesses, with open rates around 98%. The catch: US SMS requires A2P 10DLC carrier registration. (We help you get that set up as part of onboarding.)
  • WhatsApp — the dominant inbox abroad (UK / AU / international).
  • Email — the cheap, always-on layer, and the right channel for B2B.
  • DMs (Instagram / Facebook) — where med spa, gym, restaurant, and e-commerce audiences already are.

The AI engine and the booking logic stay identical. Only the pipe changes.

Do the math on your list

You don't have to believe our example — run it with your own numbers above. If the answer is bigger than a reactivation campaign costs (and for most businesses with a few thousand contacts, it is by a wide margin), it's worth a conversation.
